Hey Fie~ Sorry it's been a while, it's been pretty crazy over here. But I wanted to check in and see how you were holding up. I feel bad that we all left for so long.
I'll see what I can do about bringing you back a fun souvenir. I'm sure I can get Rean to help me pick out something good.
[If she'd asked Fie that just before the full moon, Towa would've gotten a serious and saddening answer. As it is, those feelings are under control now, so Fie can get her priorities back in line where she wants them.]
don't worry things are ok. i'm keeping busy with minor stuff going on here too
[Try as he might to avoid things, Fie's words from the previous full moon had been like a parasite. Nagging under his skin and itching down to the bone, twisting and curling and making their home there, rooting deeply and refusing to vacate. In empty moments, it would burst forth again, digging and wrenching in deeper until he's forced to acknowledge that he has no argument against it.
People wanted to know more about each other, because they considered them friends. Because they liked their company, they sought understanding.
And it had been such absolute anathema to him at the time, the casual offer of openness, without expectation in return. For so long, he'd considered himself an outsider to everyone. Something separate and different and better that way. But Fie had asked if Shinjiro cared or wondered about her past, about Louis's past-- and didn't that imply that they had wondered about his? That, like she'd said, she'd brought it up because she cared?
It's probably normal for most people. But it had felt terrifying at the time, due to how long he'd spent associating friendships with future regrets. The more people who cared about him, the more people he'd let down and hurt. But like he'd said himself-- this place was different, and home didn't matter. So why not bring it up? Why distance himself? Louis, too, had pointed out that this place could be seen as a second chance. It's something Shinjiro had never wanted, but it's something he has regardless.
Needless to say, the overt hypocrisy of his own speech and actions had been bringing the conversation up as regularly as the tide, surging up with troubled feelings and guilt and uncertainty, and ebbing back with temporary bullshit distractions that can only last so long.
And that's exactly why he's here, in the middle of the night on the day of his death, having been kept up and restless and torn apart by thoughts and memories as he always had been of mistakes made years ago. He'd eventually left the house to wander, try and clear his head, find a place to shut it all out-- and instead ended up noticing the home Fie and her friends stayed out, farther down one of the roads.
He's not as good as Fie when it comes to jumping and climbing. Despite their occasional rooftop jaunts, he's got a ways to go. But the thin, almost-dainty hooves surprisingly help as he moves from the fence to an eave at the corner of the house, carefully moving along the side of the roof until he can see what he's fairly certain is her window.
He still has trouble reading feelings through the bond-- especially with how muted Louis tends to feel, and how relaxed Fie generally is. So he's not sure if he's awake or not. But he's already here, and he's trying his best not to think too hard about just how stupid this is, so he just... goes ahead and raps his knuckles against the windowpane, sliding to a sitting position on the short ledge of roof outside the window.]
[It's almost two in the morning, and for once, Fie is actually asleep. The day before was full of work, so it'd taken a lot out of her. She crashed around eleven.
However, her bond with Elliot and years of practice with the combat links back home offer her a good experience with the feelings and proximity of her bondmates. The sudden closeness of one who is distinctly not her friend from back home coupled with the feelings and eventual rap on her window has her already sitting up and getting out of bed. She goes over to open it, only a little visibly surprised to see Shinjiro sitting there. There's a slight urge to ask if he's okay, but it's obvious he's not.
Fie looks at him, not even considering to be bothered by him seeing her in her pajamas-- a form fitting tank top and short sleep shorts. (She's seen him in less.) It only take a few moments of silence before she's climbing out of her window, carefully stepping over him, and hopping to the ledge next door. Up to that roof she goes, bare feet and all. Turning, the girl motions for him to follow. His night vision should be good enough to make that out easily.
Through their frequent treks across local roofs, Fie's not worried about him keeping up. They're not going too far anyway, only a half dozen or so houses from hers before she hops off the edge to land gently in what seems to be a private, secluded garden area. Even if it does belong to someone else-- she has no idea-- there's no way they'll be seen.
By the time he reaches her, she's already sitting on the grass below a large tree waiting for him. Fauns like nature, right? This might help.]
What's going on? [Because there is obviously something amiss. She's not even going to try to beat around the bush with this one.]
[Because Towa's making really great panicked decisions today-- and Fie's the only other female of their friends here... she has to be her female perspective on this situation.]
[ So, Machias spent a not insignificant amount of time debating how to go about this whole... thing. Should he just wait until he sees her next? Should he seek her out? Should he text her first, make sure she's free to talk? -- Okay maybe not that one, that's a little too "making an appointment" and the situation doesn't call for that level of formality. .... Or does it? How does one do this? jfksldjs
After he's done stressing about all of that, though, he decides to just... you know. Go find her. When they're both at home. Perfect! Right? Right. Sure. He stops by her room, knock on the door (frame? if it's open?) ]
[Well, this is clearly awkward. Machias is knock on her closed door, and here she is standing behind him holding a plate with a sandwich and a glass of water. Fie clears her throat in an attempt to not startle him, then answers.]
[ fie will find a gift by the window of her room on this day! no return tag, no note other than some chicken-scratch lettering. another language, of course, though she'll be able to understand what it says even if it wasn't in her own (the magic of aefenglom):
Now you don't have an excuse.
[ it's . . . awkwardly wrapped, but ripping it off will reveal an indoor gardening kit, enchanted to protect most plants from the cold as long as they're indoors. it comes with a few packs of beginner seeds with various types of edible plants, but the one that sticks out the most, a handful of packs, even, are mint seeds. ]
[Fie will find when she returns to her room, there's a large window planter sitting in her room. There's also a cute little snack basket with a variety of goodies both salty and sweet. Also a plate of cute cat cookies.]
Hey Fie! Louis told me you might be able to teach me how to grow my own tea plants, so I thought this might come in handy. It would be good for growing spices too, I think! We can put it in together once the weather looks up.
[ Fie will find a plain brown-wrapped package in front of her room. If she opens it up, she will find-- well, she'll find this dress, which he has somehow matched to her exact size by eye. That's the bad news.
The good news is that the... dress... is wrapped around some high-quality gardening tools-- a spade, a hand rake, and a handheld weed puller, along with a variety of seeds. Some of the seeds are practical-- vegetables, fruits and whatnot. There's a few that are just flowers that don't do much other than look and smell pretty.
There is no note. But then again, it probably needs no note. ]
[Fie will find a small package wrapped in silver paper on her doorstep. Inside the package there is a bunch of cute hairclips, bracelets and other small trinkets, all handpicked by Marie herself. There’s also a notebook with a cute pen attached to it]
[ When Fie shows up she's going to see a small neatly decorated package waiting for her on an end table in the living room. It will have a box filled with a variety of sweets - chocolates, fruit candies, caramels. There's also a castella cake waiting for her, and a knife that he had made - the handle is made from one of his antlers. And, there's an engraving in the handle of it. ]
Happy Valentine's Day, Fie! This blade is enchanted so if you need it in case of emergency, it will create a personal barrier. If it ever needs a recharge, you know where to find me.
Any idea who this guy is? He said Aidios so I know he's from our world, but he refused to answer any questions about where he's from. It all seemed really shady.
